May 12, 2014: As a kid, I use to watch Babytv on Directtv. One of my favourites on Babytv was the Sand Art. Even though I was not an infant, I found this really interesting. It is not childish to watch things like this. Artistic stuff like painting on water and the sand art help put infants to sleep, that is why it was broadcasted on Babytv at two o clock in the morning. Art like this takes a lot of skill.
Etsy is an amazing market in which sellers and buyers can sell and purchase unique items internationally. I find this site very useful because there is one of a kind things on the site. I bought a nose ring last year that connects from ear to nose. Specifically for this art class (and the dress I wanted to make in general), I bought my Red Bull tabs from the Netherlands. The tabs took a week to get to me, which is amazing considering the seller shipped all the way from the Netherlands. My nose ring took about 2-3 weeks to get to me and the seller lives in the United States.
Painted Hands is an amazing art. I was looking through different sites I could write about for Theory Friday and automatically thought that this would be one of them. It is so amazing how most of the hands do look like what they are suppose to be. Some hands are painted so well that it is hard to see that they are hands.

May 6, 2014: The banana as a canvas is a very unique way to do art. I can imagine myself being bored and trying something like this. It is unfortunate that banana's rot, so the piece cannot be kept. The artist should try to see if there is a chemical that will prevent the banana from decaying. I know that it is all a part of the art piece, because if the banana did not decay, the design will not show up. As for the Sistine Chapel, I like how I can see how hard it would have been for Michelangelo to do this art work. It must have been very time consuming and as someone who messes up frequently, I cannot imagine what it was like correcting mistakes through this process.
April 25, 2014: I always thought that this Pure White Paper was pretty neat. Sometimes I see images of this art work on Facebook. I did not know that this was made out of paper. I always wanted to touch it. It would be interesting to go into a museum and see artwork like this or to make this. Looks like it took a lot of dedication and time.
April 17, 2014: I am a huge fan of transportation whether it is by bus, car, truck, train. I find Pininfarina inspiring because of the different models and designs shown on the website. My dad has been customizing his corvette over the past few years, which will become mine once it is finished and I have my full license. I am amazed with unique designs and Pininfarina definitely is unique. Even the boats and yachts on the website interest me because I might join the yacht club when I go to post-secondary in the fall.
April 10, 2014: Shane Koyczan is a poet who talks about depression and bullying in the To This Day Project. I was bored one day and watched this video twice in one night because it was so interesting to me. Hearing anything about mental illness interests me. The way Shane talks is very powerful, which makes me pay attention right away. Overall, I think this was a great video.
April 4, 2014: I selected the Virtual Choir as a theory friday because I recognized the composer Eric Whitacre from choir. I use to sing in choir in elementary school and I sang at the Living Arts Centre in grade 5, which is a great memory to have. I wanted to join choir in the beginning of grade 12, which I did, but I dropped out of it because my voice sounds like crud. I know that one of the songs that the FMSS choir had to practice was the Seal Lullaby, which was composed by Eric Whitacre. I am inspired by this video because I am deeply into technology and music. I think music and technology is a way of life.
A couple of weeks ago, the theory Friday was about a TED talk called Embrace The Remix. A man named Kirby Ferguson talks about originality and that nothing is really original. Kirby mentions icons like Bob Dylan, Steve Jobs, and so many other famous people in the media.
I found this ted talk to be very fascinating because I enjoy listening to music. I can understand why things are not as original as it may seem. When people are influenced by media, it starts to take over the mind. Later when a person is not thinking of an art piece/work of art that has been viewed earlier, an idea may come to mind when creating an art piece/work of art. In reality, the person is just remixing the original creation.
I can relate to this TED talk. I am not a serious artist, but I listen to music during most of my time and sometimes I tend to misinterpret the lyrics by accident. I can personally see why artists end up remixing other artist's music. I can also see how it is possible to take two or more works from totally opposite genres and remix it into a big creation.
April 4, 2014: I remember hearing about Ellen Page coming out on the news. When I actually paid attention to the whole video of her coming out, I swear I could feel her emotion. It is so interesting to me that Ellen Page is a Canadian and a lesbian. She always was a cool actress to me, and now she is even more. I remember watching the movie Juno in theatres twice, which I will always remember.
April 4, 2014: Julian Beever is an amazing artist who does three dimensional illusions on pavement. It is always interesting to see street art, whether it is visual, digital, sculptural. Beever's art reminds me of different kinds of street art that I have seen on the media. Red Bull has a board on Pinterest about street art. I have also seen a video of zombies in New York promoting the show The Walking Dead. I find street art pretty amazing and interesting.
April 1, 2014: Cameron Russell is a model who talks about appearance. She mentions that the media hires many people to make models look perfect. There is so much process behind a photo-shoot that a model goes through. There are people of many different professions that are hired to make the photo/film perfect such as hair stylists, make up artists, and photographers who then Photoshop the image. At the end of the day, a little part of what people see on the media is real.
I found this video interesting because this was not my first time watching this clip. I have seen it a couple years back and ironically a few weeks before I realized it was a theory friday topic. Recently there has been news about Lorde's twitter account. Lorde tweeted a photoshopped image of herself beside a real image. I felt the need to relate this incident to the TED talk featuring Cameron Russell.
Not everybody is perfect. If people are, that is good for them. People should not change for other people, but for themselves. It is okay to change once in a while when it feels needed. No one is expected to look like a celebrity. If someone is not perfect, there is always someone who will accept them for who they are.

What if Money Were No Object? - Alan Watts
People say that money cannot buy happiness. In my personal opinion, it all depends what you buy with the money. Some people buy boats and go on vacation. Other people just see money as something to have and flaunt. I think that education is the key to a good career and that it is not only about the education in school, but out of school. I believe that people should try things out to see how it works out. If someone wants to pursue a career they like, they should have back up plans. If something does not have high pay, always have an alternative.
I want(ed) to become a professional piercer, but that does not stop me from going to school. All of my relatives want me to become a hairstylist and go to hair school either because they think I cannot make it in this world / get into university, or if it is that much of a struggle to find a job after post-secondary. I made it clear that I do not want to be a hairstylist and if I were to do anything in the beauty industry, I would be doing tattoos and piercings.
I am going to attend post-secondary in fall, but that will not stop me from becoming a piercer. If I really want to do piercings, I can always make time to get my piercing license. Every industry is struggling right now because of the competition and pay. If I am not happy with the career I end up pursuing, I can always pursue my backup. Personally, it does not matter what job field I enter, the freedom of adulthood will make me happier than I am now. Money to travel, go shopping, and experience things would be amazing, but it is not everything. Objects do not make people happy, other people make people happy.

Zombie Boy
This is the certified website for Zombie Boy, who is a Canadian artist, performer, and actor. Rick Genest suffered struggles throughout his life. There is a brief description of his life, which is inspiring to me. Overall, Rick Genest has amazing tattoos and is an interesting artist.
Art of Noise
This is a chat with the man behind the Art of Noise, a music group from England that formed in 1983. This is inspiring because of the story Gary Langan talks about. Gary went to college for something unrelated to music, did not want to be recognized as a musician, but still succeeded as an artist.
Skinny Puppy
Nivek Ogre of the band Skinny Puppy discusses the recent controversy about the US government using the band's music to torture prisoners in Guantanamo Bay. The band is currently asking the US government for $666,000.00 because of the incident. If this is a real issue, I am inspired by the music. While people are being tortured in jail with this music, I listen to it for pleasure.
PolyFauna
Radiohead is an alternative rock band from England. The band has made an iPhone app called PolyFauna. It is interesting because the app is like a whole different world. PolyFauna has a five-star rating in the app store. I suggest people to take a visit to the app during spare time.

Homosexuality is perfectly normal. Macklemore created this song to support gay rights and human equality. The video interests me because of how it was filmed and thought out.
